Who I am

I'm Thomas Wood, trading as Storytelling Minds. I decide how your personal information is used, so I'm responsible for it. You can contact me at thomas@storytellingminds.co.uk.

What I collect, and why

  • If you sign up for my guide or my emails: your first name and email address. I use them to send you the guide and to email you about my work, including offers and updates. I do this with your consent, which you give when you click the sign-up button and confirm by email.
  • If you take my quiz: your name, email address and your answers. I use them to show you your result. If you say you're happy to hear from me, I also use your email address to send you emails.
  • If you message me on Instagram or comment to receive something: your username, your messages and anything you share with me. I use them to reply to you. This is because I have a legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch.
  • If you book a call: your name, email address and anything you tell me in the booking. I use them to arrange and hold the call, at your request.
  • If you visit my website: some technical information, such as your device and IP address, which my website provider collects.

Who I share it with

I use these services to run my work, and they handle your information for me: Kit (to send emails), Tally (for my quiz), ManyChat (for Instagram messages), Squarespace (my website), Google (for spreadsheets) and YouCanBook.me (for booking calls). I don't sell your information.

Sending it outside the UK

Some of these services are based outside the UK, for example Kit and ManyChat in the United States. Where your information goes outside the UK, it's protected by safeguards such as the UK extension to the Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses.

How long I keep it

I keep your email address for as long as you're on my list. If you unsubscribe, I keep only your email address on a list of people not to contact, so that I don't email you again. For anything else, I keep it for as long as I need it for the purpose I collected it, and for any legal or accounting requirement.

Your rights

You can ask me to show you what I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can withdraw your consent at any time. To unsubscribe, use the link at the bottom of any email I send. For anything else, email me at the address above.

Your right to object

You can object at any time to me using your information for direct marketing, and to me replying to your messages on the basis of my legitimate interests. Email me at the address above and I'll stop.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

I may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page.
